The club recently celebrated its 15th anniversary at our May 2010 club meeting and VE session. After the club meeting we held a very nice barbeque for all who attended. Many new members and members who were present at the founding supper were present.

At that first supper on May 22, 1995, three purposes were established for the club.

“We wanted to further the hobby for ourselves and others, providing mutual aid, and technical assistance.”

“Second, with a number of individuals taking an interest in becoming licensed we wanted to establish a VE team to serve Park County, and obviate the need for travel to Denver metro for exams. On July 16, 1995 our first tests were administered with Jeanie Myers, KGØAO as liaison with the ARRL -VEC, by whom we were ‘chartered’.”

“Third, and most importantly, the need for an organized emergency communication response team was recognized. Padre accepted the appointment District Six EC.”

Fifteen years later we share technical knowledge and assist others in expanding their knowledge of the hobby.

Currently we have a great team of VE’s that assists others to either get their license for the first time or upgrade to the next level in that individual’s amateur radio pursuits.

And last but not least we have a strong ARES D-6 group ready to mobilize at the first sign of smoke, flash flood or any other disaster should we be called out by the governing authorities and served agencies in the Park County area.

During the May, 2010 meeting I was elected president of the club! I am humbled by this honor and responsibility.

I was not elected President of the United States, thank God, but I feel a responsibility to the founding members and our current members of the club to continue the hard work that was started 15 years ago.

Welcome to our club website and please visit often. The content changes on a regular basis and reflects the wonderful life style that we have up here.
